Is it Fair to Criticize Microsoft for Lack of MOSS Product Direction?

The folks at CMS Watch made an interesting comment yesterday about the perceived lack of a detailed roadmap from Microsoft about MOSS. While it’s hard to argue the point that Microsoft hasn’t told the world specifically when the next release of MOSS will be out or what will be in it, I’m not sure we should be expecting this from any vendor for a product that’s only been out for six months. Isn’t it reasonable for Microsoft to gather feedback from their users, identify needed improvements and then tell us what’s coming next? Also, Microsoft has been busily working on becoming DoD 5015.2 compliant and will release a service pack later this year as part of that process. Doesn’t that count?
